Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 Extensions - What Else We Need to Know?

Hi All,

Recap - "We covered Most of the Things which we Should know about Extension in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016."

If you are not following the Extension Series Then Refer the Table of Contents For Extensions.

This is the Last Article In This Series, where we will discuss What is Supported and What is Not Supported with Extensions.

Within Series It always Look Great, That Wow What a Great Feature and we started Thinking What all I can achieve with Extension.
But This Article Will Might Get to Back to Reality, as Extension is not completely Ready for Use.

There is Yet some contraints in It. Let's see what are they.

An extension package can contain both new and modified objects. In Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016, the following object types can be added and included in an extension:

> Pages
> Tables
> MenuSuites
> Codeunits

Yes My Most Required Part of any Solution which I always Deliver with every solution, Reports are Not Part of Extension (as of Now). You cannot add or modify any other object types in this version.

+ You Cannot Modify Any Standard Codeunit.

That's Not All, There is Even More about What all properties that we can change in Pages & Tables Objects.

For Complete List of Compatibility Matrix Refer MSDN Page.

There is Something Which I Want to Share, Is about the Extensions That is - NAVY.

Yes, in whole article we discussed About Navx, but discussion started about a Package Manager for Extension, Called as NAVY - A PACKAGE MANAGER FOR DYNAMICS NAV.

Read For NAVY Here.

Hope you like the article & Series. Please put your suggestion or queries as comment to article.

MSDYN365BC - Data Upgrade To Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on premises.

Hi Readers, We have already talked about the number of steps for upgrading to Business Central on Premises from different NAV versions. After that article, I received multiple requests for an article which list down steps for Data Migration. In this article, we will discuss steps of data migration to MSDYN365BC (on-Prem) from NAV 2017. For this article, I am considering a Cronus Demo Database without any customization. For an actual upgrade project, we will have to complete object merge using compare and Merge process. After the Merge Process, the next step is data migration. Let's discuss those steps. Direct Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (on-Prem) is from following versions - 1. NAV 2015. 2. NAV 2016. 3. NAV 2017. 4. NAV 2018.
